Silla
Yoga & Meditation Digital Platform
Overview
Siila is an inclusive digital platform dedicated to yoga and meditation, serving both wellness professionals and seekers who want a simpler way to access holistic wellness. The platform addresses the fragmented nature of online wellness offerings by creating an integrated ecosystem where professionals can share their expertise and users can find the resources they need.
My project focused specifically on the wellness professional experience, designing an interface that helps yoga instructors like Tshering Kinley expand their reach globally while minimizing administrative burdens.

The Challenge
Research Approach
Yoga instructors with rich expertise in wellness practices often struggle with the technical aspects of establishing an online presence. Our user persona, Tshering, represents these instructors who want to focus on teaching rather than managing complex technology. Key pain points include:
- Frustration with complicated tech processes that take away teaching time
- Fear of losing potential students due to content inaccessibility
- Feeling overwhelmed by administrative tasks
- Difficulty for students to book sessions and access content

User Research
Through extensive user interviews and observation sessions with both yoga instructors and wellness seekers, we identified several key insights:
For Yoga Professionals:
- Most instructors prioritize teaching quality over technical prowess
- Current platforms require significant time investment to learn
- Many instructors lose potential students due to complicated booking systems
- The majority want a supportive community around their teaching
For Yoga Seekers:
- Busy individuals struggle to find time for wellness practices
- Many experience guilt when prioritizing self-care over family or work
- Fragmented online offerings create friction in establishing consistent routines
- Users seek authentic connections with instructors and like-minded community members
The Solution: Siila
Siila was designed as an integrated platform that serves both wellness professionals and seekers, though my project focused specifically on the professional experience.

Design Process
User Journey Mapping
We created a comprehensive user journey map to visualize the emotional state, goals, needs, and pain points at each stage of interaction with the platform:
-
Discovery: Users find and explore the platform through various channels such as social media, word of mouth, and search engines. The platform's user-friendly design and clear value proposition help attract and retain users.
-
Sign-up: Registration and basic profile creation
-
Event Creation: Creating and publishing yoga sessions
User Interface Highlights
Welcoming Dashboard
The instructor's dashboard provides at-a-glance information about upcoming events and key metrics like ticket sales and revenue. The clean interface prioritizes the most important information while keeping navigation simple with a tab bar at the bottom.
Streamlined Event Creation
The event creation process is divided into three clear sections—Event Details, Time & Location, and Tickets & Info—each with prominent "Save draft" buttons to prevent loss of work. The interface uses a step indicator at the top to show progress.
-
Event Details: Users can upload an event banner, add title, description, event type, and practice category
-
Time & Location: Simple date/time pickers, timezone selector, and options for in-person or virtual events
-
Tickets & Info: Ticket management with free and paid options, plus additional customizable fields
Post-Publishing Features
After publishing an event, instructors can easily invite guests via email or share links on social media, completing the end-to-end process with minimal friction.

Key Design Solutions
-
Simplified Event Creation
Problem: Event creation process has too many steps and is overwhelming
Solution: Redesigned the flow into three logical sections with clear progress indicators
- Event Details: Title, description, type, and category with visual uploads
- Time & Location: Intuitive date/time pickers and location options
- Tickets & Info: Simple ticket management with free and paid options
The redesigned interface includes a persistent "Save draft" button on every screen and a visual progress indicator showing which section the user is currently completing.
-
Draft Functionality
Problem: No option to save work as a draft, leading to lost progress
Solution: Added prominently displayed "Save as Draft" buttons on each screen of the event creation process, positioned consistently next to action buttons
Progressive Information Gathering
- Made yoga center affiliation optional
- Simplified location input to just city and postal code
- Provided popular choices for yoga practices with simple selection
Problem: Overwhelming initial sign-up experience requesting too much information
Solution: Streamlined onboarding to collect only essential information:
Key Learnings
